April Verhoef: April has a degree in piano as well as a California Teaching Credential in Music Education. She has an extensive background in music and has been in the field for the past 18 years. She has taught preschoolers, elementary school age children and high school students. She is certified in Orff which is a music technique that combines singing, xylophones and creative movement. Over the past 5 years she has had the opportunity to teach music through an organization called Education through Music. It uses many folk songs with preplanned movement and activities with singing; to help children's reading skills as well as their brain development. Mrs. April comes from a Christian faith background and is currently a member of The Oaks Community Church. She is an active part of the The Oaks Worship Team. She also incorporate songs that bring a Christian message to her teaching curriculum.

Music activities give children opportunities to use their entire bodies for learning and exploring their surroundings, build awareness by listening to the many kinds of sounds, and help children experience the release and freedom of body movement. Children will be encouraged to test their vocal and kinesthetic abilities and to have fun while they are experimenting. We emphasize the enjoyment of participation.
